1. AAARGH FINALLY! I've been promising this thing for MONTHS. I was so fond of the idea my perfectionism went into overdrive. Then I started experimenting with Open Canvas and efficiency went to hell.
2. "If I Were Gay" is by Stephen Lynch. It is absolutely hilarious, way too catchy, and something of a Hugo and Hellar theme song, a least from the point of view of Hugo, who really doth protest to much, methinks *snicker*. It's even got whiskey, Hellar's drink of choice.
3. And yes, it is Hellar, not Ellis, since this scene was intended for the original storyline, rather than the novel one. Not that it won't necessarily be in there, it'll just be downplayed.
4. They're in a bathroom. Specifically, the bathroom at the Acropolex, Prize's equivalent of Silver City. Contrary to the lyrics, Hugo's actually not drunk. Hellar, however, is. Hence the -- well, no, come to think of it, he's obnoxious and creepy and gropey most of the time. Either way, the bathroom really shouldn't be that dirty, but I was having fun with brushes.
5. From the looks of it, Hellar is about two seconds away from being punched in the face.
6. All digital this time. Open Canvas and PS7. The pencil is sketched in my notebook between an English page and a Linguistics page.
mmmm...Hot and preverted. I love how well the lyrics fit the mood of the piece, and I also like the mirror in the backround it's very Manet (Which means awsome, for those of you who don't know who Manet is). I also think the hands look cool. Even though they are not realistic, I think they are sweet and cool. Only nitpick: there are no sinks or napkins or anything in this background?

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Merry Christmas to you out there but don't forget: we are only guests here and so...listen to my favourite words... and look at all these wonderful pieces of art

I love those lyrics!! I love this picture! *giggles like the silly fangirl she is*
I've loved the scene ever since I looked at that icon...because Hellar looks f*****G creepy.
Loving the shading, and folds on the clothes, as well as Hugo's hair.
Is Hellar pointing down or is it just the way his hand is positioned?

Mmm, and the shading was fun to do, too. I'm glad his hair's working for you, because I was a bit "enh" about it myself at first.
Hellar's actually tugging at Hugo's shirt with his finger, but he was probably pointing down a second ago. I swear, he's even less tactful than Kin.
