Description

1. A comic page to test style, inking, backgrounds, and assorted other things. Basically some experimenting before I dive into the main project -- that being the Ignorant Boys' Guide to World Maintenance.

2. You know what? I'm not going to transcribe the text. Fullview, ya bastards.

3. BACKGROUND! The long-haired pretty is Randal Baden, protagonist and cranky male stripper. The butch guy in the mohawk is Cameron Dyllon. The top hat girl is Shae, and the curly office dork is Trevor -- both associates/sidekicks of Randal. The next page goes something like this:

SHAE: Who ARE you?
CAMERON: Relax. Randal and go way back. Prize High School.
TREVOR: *low growling*
SHAE: Prize H-- *GASP* You used to beat him up, I'll bet! You bully!
CAMERON: ... *dies laughing*
SHAE: What?
CAMERON: Beat up... beat... ahahaaa. No. Well, maybe a little. But he deserved it.

Because the truth is, back then Cameron was Candice, and the two were best friends. Then Randal slept with her boyfriend. And has since spent a good deal of his life running from her/him.

4. The real fuck of it's going to be keeping all Cameron's piercings and tattoes straight. Seven face piercings in all, I think. Yee.

5. MOSTLY I was testing ink styles here. Any opinions on it? Keeping in mind I'm determined to do this thing without ANY greytones. But yeah, feedback on the ink style in particular would be appreciated. Like: should I sneak in a more sketchy style, or emphasize the clean, angular crap I've been good at? Should I brave some hatching and crosshatching, despite the fact that I've come to hate it with a furious passion? Should I put the brush pen to work more than three times a page? Suggestions, people!

6. Drafting pens, Microns, many-a-Sharpie, brush pen, text in PS7.

The characters all stand out. The facial expressions are on the ball. It's all very clean, consistant and legible. Keep up the hard work.
